Neutrino Mass GenerationThe paper by Thurston Matthews, Particle Physics – Neutrino Mass Generation via the See-Saw Mechanism, explores the see-saw mechanism, a theoretical framework that explains the small, non-zero masses of neutrinos by introducing heavy right-handed neutrinos. The mechanism involves both Dirac and Majorana mass terms, with the heavy neutrinos contributing to the light neutrino masses through an inverse relationship. This process is vital for understanding why neutrino masses are much smaller than those of other particles. The paper also discusses how the see-saw mechanism ties into cosmology, particularly in explaining the baryon asymmetry of the universe through leptogenesis, where the decay of heavy neutrinos generates a lepton asymmetry that sphaleron processes convert into a baryon asymmetry. The study further highlights experimental efforts, such as neutrinoless double beta decay and lepton flavor violation, that could provide evidence supporting the see-saw mechanism. Additionally, the paper emphasizes the role of precision neutrino experiments and collider searches in probing these theoretical predictions. I would like to clarify that I did not write the paper myself. It is the result of my learning process and experimentation with newly available AI tools. The paper and presentation on neutrinos were generated under my direction using ChatGPT o1 preview, while the podcast was created using the Google Notebook LM tool. This project has allowed me to explore the potential of AI in generating scientific content, and I hope it provides a valuable resource for those interested in particle physics and the see-saw mechanism.

The Future MindAn original composition by Thurston Matthews August 16, 2015 People just seem to be getting smarter. Will there be a day when intelligence like Einstein or Richard Feynman will be considered below average? What would it be like to be a genius then? How would it feel? I dedicate my latest work to the future mind. Humanity clearly has not reached it's maximum potential! My new Roland FA-06 joins my older Yamaha PSR-GX76 in a sonic battle!

A Quickening SongAn original composition by Thurston Matthews July 29, 2015 Does the world seem like it is speeding up? From science discovery to the latest electronic gadget, stuff is just happening faster and faster. Here is a song I have composed to pay homage to our world where new knowledge major breakthroughs and life changing inventions are just a part of daily life. A picture of the default Ubuntu Studio desktop image is shown above to show my appreciation for this wonderful flavor of a Linux operating system which I am using to produce music.

Not Funeral MusicAn original composition by Thurston Matthews June 20, 2015 Here is my latest song titled "Not Funeral Music". It seems for some people, anything that sounds like pipe organs reminds them of a funeral. Unfortunately, my piano synthesizer makes a lot of orchestra instruments sound like pipe organs. So for this song, I have selected instruments that do not sound like pipe organs. And thus it does not sound like funeral music! Also of note, I have cracked the MIDI standard 16 channel barrier with a whopping 23 simultaneous parts. Apparently my piano is capable of 32 simultaneous parts, but only 16 different instruments are allowed at a time. Also, if you have herd "Memes and Genes", you may notice "Not Funeral Music" has nearly identical overall structure. New in "Not Funeral Music" are some rhythm effects I have been been working on. Enjoy!

Memes and Genes (Knowledge is Life)An original composition by Thurston Matthews May 25, 2015 I am a huge fan of Through the Wormhole on the Science Channel. This week they asked the question what is the meaning of life. The short answer is to collect knowledge of physics, the universe and the environment. The longer answer includes the spreading of memes for allowing knowledge to survive and continue collecting more knowledge. It sounds good to me! It also sounds like I have a title for my latest song. Note: A new version 3 is up. The PDF now has tempo markings. In the MP3 file, the instruments play more together.

Singularity (Not Humanly Possible)An original composition by Thurston Matthews April 30, 2015 The singularity is coming. Will we all become cyborgs? Will musicians use their cyborg powers to play impossible music? Time will tell. In the mean time I dedicate this impossible to play piece of music to the coming singularity. Because, well, I seem to have lost my way in my efforts to create human playable music.

The Hubble Space Telescope (Happy 25th Birthday)An original composition by Thurston Matthews April 24, 2015 The Hubble space telescope is 25 years old. Wow! The Nova special was fantastic! My latest song is a bit spacey. So then It seems like a good idea to offer my spacey song to the spacey telescope. Enjoy!

Bane of PhonesAn original composition by Thurston Matthews April 11, 2015 In honor of this weekend marking the return of "Game of Thrones" I have titled my work "Bane of Phones". Enjoy!
